Dried apricots

1. MALATYA AREA: Malatya’s reputation, more than anything else, hinges on its apricots. The fertile plain is famous for its apricot growing and many delicious confections are made from it. This reputation has extended so far beyond the borders of Turkey that Malatya accounts for 10-15% of the world production of fresh apricots and 65-80% of the world production of dried apricots. Hence, nobody returns from Malatya without buying apricots. 95 % of the output is exported primarily to the US and European countries.

2. THE FACTORY: Dried Apricot Processing Factory in Malatya City on a closed application area of 4500m2 is certificated by HACCP and by K-Q TSE-ISO-EN 9000 and by HALAL certificate. Client portfolios were generally developed in many markets, in years.

3. PACKAGING, QUALITY:

Because Turkey is the leader in dried apricot in the world, there are very strict controls on container basis about quality, packaging and specifications by government according to Turkish Standard Institute regulations. In packaging of bulk commodities, all exporters have to fit followings:

a.  12,5 kg carton box

b.  12,7 kg (28 lbs) carton box (to export USA)

c.  5,00 kg carton box

A nylon sheet must be put into the carton boxes. These packaging standards were determined for specifically Turkish Dried Malatya Apricots’ storage conditions, inside the original unopened packages if the goods processed at 3.000 ppm SO2. Also available and when it's required the packaging in consumer type.

  

a. Inside above carton boxes 3 YEARS if the temperature in a country is 30-35 oC

b. Inside above carton boxes 3 YEARS if the temperature in a country is above 35 oC and in sun-protected warehouses

c.  3 YEARS if the temperature is (-/+) 6-8 oC

  

If big quantities dried apricot will be stored more than 1 year and no other goods are stored in that warehouse, it is recommended that the warehouse should be applied disinfectant methyl bromide.

  

If SO2 is applied to dried apricots as a preservative at 3.000 ppm (and above), then shelf life is extended at least 1 year, at the same time Uniformed Colour between Light Orange and Yellow is obtained as Turkish, African and Far East people are used to consume. The colour of naturel and organic dried apricots (SO2 is not applied) is very darkish brown.

 

We lay the nylon bag inside of each carton box immediately before put dried apricots.  We do not prefer to put our products inside of a covered nylon bag, as it will cause sweat on our products.  There is no risk about worm infestation. We have just harvested apricots. Dried apricot is the most suitable fruit in between all other dried fruits.  Especially Turkish Dried Apricot originated from Malatya has very long-shelf-life, as more than 3 years w/o sugared, fermentation, etc..

If the importer country/city localized in a very warm area, as like Africa, we recommend them to stock their goods in a cool and dry warehouse.  

If you or your customers are concerned about warm infestation, we can recommend applying Methyl Bromide.  We never apply Methyl Bromide onto Organic Dried Apricots, but we do not see any objection to apply Methyl Bromide onto Natural Dried Apricot, in case the buyer accepts. 

Application of Methyl Bromide:  There is no way existing of live warms, insects, etc.. after application of Methyl Bromide.  Immediately after closed and sealed doors of the container, we apply Methyl Bromide in its gas form through ventages of the container.  After gased all live worms and insects, it evaporates from ambiance of the container.  It never contaminate inside of fruits. It never deposits residue.  There is no way to smell any off and objectionable odor after 2 hours beginning from the application.

We underwrite charges of Methyl Bromide applications; in case you are agreed on application of Methyl Bromide onto order/s include Natural Dried Apricots.

For your information, Nr. 0 (61- 80 fruits per 1 Kg) and Nr. 1 (81-100 fruits per 1 Kg) size dried apricots are about to be exhausted in the market.

If the buyer will cut the apricots into pieces, we suggest the Uncalibrated Dried Apricots, which is competitive in view of prices.
